About

First we are grateful that you have chosen to visit Snugglybug Books
and want to tell you a little about us and why we decided to write this series.
In other words, get to know us.

We are sisters, moms, grandmas, friends, lifelong support for each other and it took us until now to realize our dream. So don’t worry about what age you are, go after that dream.  We are so glad we did!

For us we always wanted to collaborate on something, what we weren’t sure what that looked like or be and continued on with our lives. We raised our families (we each have two children, a daughter and a son) held down full time jobs and did what most women do to get along and survive in this world. Only difference is, the world changed under our feet.  We were born into an era when the choices for women were either a teacher, secretary, nurse or best a wife. The world changed and unbelievable choices became available to us.  But by then, we were deeply involved with our families, being room mothers (remember those!), volunteering at our children’s schools, driving carpools and making breakfast, lunch and dinners. But we never gave up on our dream - to do something to make a difference in the lives of young children, further the betterment of education for young children . . .  and have our own business.

So here we are - with you and your little one. We sincerely hope you and your children enjoy the adventures of our characters while they learn skills and develop a love of reading and a lifetime of learning.

Now a little about each of us.

Michele D. Peters, author, Snugglybug Books for children

I have two adult children, both on autopilot and in November 2024 joined a wonderful club with a new name - GRANDMA, actually Gammi.

I worked in the corporate world, both national and international, for 20 years then university and non-profit another ten years. After both children graduated from college, I told Pam I was thinking about pursuing a long-held dream - my own college degree. She always knew, laughed and said “Finally - go for it!  The time will pass anyway whether you go after a degree or not. This is something that means a lot to you. GO FOR IT!” I will never forget those words.

I left the corporate world for non-profits where I advocated for education and children, co-founded a nonprofit, still in existence today, focused on educating the youngest children.

My husband and children have always indulged my love of animals and penchant for rescuing all kinds. We have adopted nine different dogs over the years, (I have a copper bracelet with each name inscribed) currently downsized from a huge Irish setter years ago, Clancy, to now two pint-sized chihuahua mixes, Rocky and Sophie. Rescues included a hummingbird and a mallard duck who thought I was his mother. (contact me and I can tell you that hilarious story.)

MICHELE PETERS

My passion for writing and storytelling never faded and after I retired, pursued my lifelong dream of writing a novel.  I joined writers groups and organizations to learn about the craft of writing (and believe me, it is a craft), attended many webinars, accumulated my own library on ‘how to write’, joined a critique group and currently working on a short story, a cozy mystery, and soon put to paper an historical novel that has been swirling in my mind for fifteen years.

I took a left turn here. Pam and I were chatting as sisters will, when we decided to blend our skills and collaborate on a children’s book. But for us, it had to be one with a focus on education for young children.  To help children develop a love of learning starting with friendly, fun characters, amusing rhymes, with a different slant on stories that will hopefully ignite your little one’s imagination and make you both smile.

I’m a mom of two wonderful grown children. And a grandma to my little buddy who’s 7 years old.

I was an Art Director and Graphic Designer for 30+ years at some of the top Ad agencies in St. Louis, Missouri. I switched from a board artist to working on a computer when the industry changed. A challenge I met and conquered.

My favorite thing was reading to my kids at bedtime. To see their wide eyed amazement at each story was truly a gift I will always cherish.

I also loved to work at my computer with my Westie in my lap.

Growing up I always felt safe and protected by my sister. As adults she’s my confidant and advisor in life situations. Many of which I seem to find myself in these days.

When I retired I was thrilled to collaborate with my sister on these children’s books. It’s like we share the same brain. We bounce ideas off each other with great ease and always have the best outcomes as you will see when you read our books to your babies.

I’ve also been told “YOU CAN DO IT!!”

Which is something I carry with me whenever I meet a life challenge that seems too overwhelming.

I hope you enjoy reading these books as much as we have had fun creating them!
